Things to do in Fuengirola
For a beach town, Fuengirola has an unusual amount going on all year. Bioparc Fuengirola — a modern, conservation-focused zoo built around immersive natural habitats — is a short walk inland from the main beach and a genuine highlight. At the western end, the Moorish Sohail Castle watches over the coast from its hilltop and hosts open-air concerts and festivals through the summer. The marina and fishing port is lined with small seafood restaurants, and the Miramar shopping centre brings a big Carrefour, international brands, a cinema and a food court all under one roof.
Day to day, the large Tuesday market at the fairground (one of the biggest in Andalucía) is one of the coast’s biggest, and the dining scene runs the full range, from seafront chiringuitos and the port’s fish restaurants to tapas bars in the old town and international kitchens catering to the town’s many nationalities. It’s this constant, year-round activity — not just a summer flurry — that makes Fuengirola feel like a place to live rather than just visit.
