Beaches in Fuengirola
Fuengirola is built along roughly 8km of coastline, and it takes its beaches seriously — several of them fly the Blue Flag, the international standard for water quality, safety and facilities. The sand is wide and golden, the water gently shelving and family-friendly, and every stretch is backed by the Paseo Marítimo Rey de España — at about 7km, one of the longest seafront promenades on the Costa del Sol. It runs from Sohail Castle at the western end all the way to the Mijas Costa boundary, and it’s the heart of daily life here: a continuous ribbon of chiringuitos grilling espetos, cafés, playgrounds and cycle path, busy in January as well as July.
Because Fuengirola is a real town rather than a resort, the seafront never fully empties — which is exactly why so many people choose to live right on or just behind it. From compact beachfront apartments to promenade-facing homes, being able to walk out onto that paseo every morning is a large part of the town’s appeal.
