Schools & the international community in Fuengirola

Fuengirola has one of the largest and longest-established international communities on the Costa del Sol, and that shapes daily life. Alongside a big local Spanish population there’s a very large British community — one of the biggest on the coast — plus strong Scandinavian (particularly Finnish and Swedish) and, more recently, Polish communities. The practical upshot: English is widely spoken, there are clubs, churches, shops and services in several languages, and newcomers tend to settle in quickly.

Schooling reflects that international mix. The town has British and Scandinavian international schools as well as Spanish state and private (often bilingual) options, and the well-known British schools of neighbouring Mijas — such as St Anthony’s College — are a short drive away. For families who want an easy landing, an established community and choice of schooling, Fuengirola is one of the most straightforward places on the coast to move to.
