Getting around Fuengirola

This is Fuengirola’s real advantage, and it’s a big one. The town is the southern terminus of the Cercanías C1 commuter rail line — meaning a direct train to Torremolinos, Benalmádena, Málaga city and, crucially, Málaga airport, in around 35 minutes and for a few euros. Very few towns on the Costa del Sol have a railway at all, and it changes what living here means: you can reach the airport, the city, its culture, hospitals and football without ever getting in a car — genuinely rare on this coast, and a serious plus for both lock-up-and-leave owners and full-time residents.

For everything else, the A-7 coastal motorway runs alongside the town (with the AP-7 toll as the fast alternative), putting La Cala, Marbella and Mijas Pueblo all within easy reach. In town itself, Fuengirola is flat, dense and walkable, with a full local bus network — one of the few places on the coast where you can comfortably live without a car if you choose to.
